Bullying Awareness

PartyDanceUK could help to raise awareness on the problems associated with school-bullying and its effects. A Dance Foundation may be created to inspire others with radically new ideas - this would be a positive step in helping to tackle bullying.
The creation of PartyDanceUK came out of much sadness at being forced to miss out sharing all the fun and vibrancy of what was a wonderfully uplifting 90′s music scene and beyond as a result of being a victim of prolonged bullying and its effects. The events being planned will hopefully lead to the production of an annual festival of great dance music. There would be a catching-up with the missing years while, at the same time, others would become aware to the harmful effects that bullying can do to its victims so lessons could be learned to try to prevent others from suffering. Bullies would also become aware of the distress they could cause their victims by their actions.
It is hoped that each of the proposed events would be seen as a musical tribute to all those who have suffered through bullying and to spread the message that life should never have to be painful.
Inspiring society in various ways to combat bullying: there are many ways forward in the campaign to raise awareness on bullying. One such way would be to put forward the idea of society as a whole, or perhaps more specifically individual communities, focussing on the issue for a specific period for example a year so that all ages could relate and share their experiences using discussion, drama and other artforms resulting in coming up with possible solutions. A project such as this would ideally involve participation within schools, clubs, workplaces and other local groups as well as making use of various sources of the media such as the internet, tv, radio and local press – these would prove really useful in providing outlets for interaction. Active involvement in phone-in’s, discussions, tv documentaries, chatting on the net and so on could all prove valuble in helping to raise awareness on such an important issue. Each community could take on board these ideas and adapt them according to their own particular needs.
Victims of bullying should be encouraged to tell of the hardship they are enduring and to confide in others so that they do not have to suffer in silence. Bullies should be encouraged to take a look at themselves and to think about the damage they cause their victims (and the victims’ families). They should try to imagine how they themselves would be in later life as adults and also to think about what has made them bully others – they should think about possible causes/influences such as friends, family, tv, internet, unpleasant experiences, anything in fact which could have made them become the bullies that they are. Victims and bullies alike could relate their case-histories through writing about their experiences, doing so anonymously if preferred.
A musical: there are many ways to highlight bullying through the arts, one of which is for the production of a musical using the theme of bullying as the subject-matter, there is already a project in mind for this purpose.
This page is being used as a ‘workboard’ so that ideas can be put together in the form of an ongoing project on bullying.
